Milonga Esquina Porteña

As ever, we aim to bring you the warm and friendly atmosphere of a traditional neighbourhood milonga, and to keep you inspired by playing the best traditional tango music, mainly from the Golden Age, organised in tandas with cortinas (TTVTTM). We will also aim to have a tanda display (technology permitting!)
At our milonga, we ask that people show respect to others by observing the traditional códigos (in particular the use of mirada/cabaceo) and also by adhering to the etiquette of the ronda.

We will serve some food at around 7pm to keep you going. This will be along the lines of pizza/other nibbles. We will endeavour to make sure vegan and gluten-free options are available. If you prefer, you can bring your own food instead. Other light refreshments (tea, coffee and fruit juice) will be freely available. Feel free to BYOB. Wine glasses are available in the kitchen.
Parking is available on St Andrews Road and adjacent streets.
For comfort and safety we want to keep numbers well below maximum hall capacity to around 70. I don't think it's likely that there'll be an issue but if do want to secure a place in advance just to be on the safe side you can do this by pressing the 'going' button, completing the booking form, or contacting me directly using the details below.

NOTE TO OTHER ORGANISERS: We are more than happy for you to bring flyers and to promote your tango events at our milonga so long as you check with us first that these don’t clash with any of our own events.

PLEASE NOTE: Attendance at our event is entirely at your own risk. Esquina Porteña Tango and its hosts accept no responsibility for anyone contracting Covid 19 as a result of attending our event.

For everyone's safety, despite the lifting of legal restrictions, we're keeping the following safety measures and recommendations will remain in place for this month at least.
1. For your own safety as well as our peace of mind we prefer it that everyone is fully vaccinated and boosted or recently recovered and advise against attending if not.
2. We will require evidence of a Neg LFT taken ON THE DAY (preferably as close to the event as possible and registered with the NHS). LFT tests are still freely available until the end of the month but we recommend to get hold of your test kits early in case they become scarce towords the end of the month. We have got spares on hand just in case.
3. We will require contact details just in case we need to get in touch
*** OTHER MEASURES AND RECOMMENDATIONS***
• In these uncertain times we advise double-checking our event page before travelling just in case of any last-minute changes.
• Please use the hand sanitisers provided at regular intervals, particularly between dance partners, on entry to the venue, and before consuming food/helping yourselves to the light refreshments which are available.
• The wearing of face masks is voluntary. However, we would ask that you respect others who choose to do so and consider doing likewise if you do wish to dance with them. We will have some disposable face masks on the front desk which will be freely available just in case.
• We will need to ventilate the venue. Although we will have the heating on, we would recommend bringing something warm to pop on when not dancing just in case.
• We ask that people bear in mind that there may be people who prefer to dance just with one partner or in a social bubble. Observance of the mirada/cabaceo (something we have always encouraged anyway) is a simple and effective way in which we can all respect each others’ preferences.
• Obviously, we ask you to contact us in case of a positive test following the event so we can alert others. Please rest assured that your name and details will be kept confidential from other attendees unless you advise us otherwise.
