It is a great plasure to host the lengendary Maestro.
El Pibe Sarandi (the kid from Sarandi) was born in Sarandí, a province of Buenos Aires. He grew up surrounded by the tango culture of 1940s Buenos Aires, started to dance at the age of 13. Like many others of that generation, he began to dance as a youngster in the practicas, in the street, in the rough cafes and bars of their barrio, learning by watching the greatest. This was long before there was such a thing as a tango teacher or a proper dance school so the best dancers developed their improvised style together, through practice with others of their area, leading to the unique barrio styles across the greater Buenos Aires region.
His first professional engadgement was in 1964 with the legendary Carlos Gavito, cast by Gloria and Eduardo for the TV program” Yo te canto Buenos Aires”. After that he appeared in three movies. El Pibe is one of the last of the self-taught milongueros of this era. Over more than 60 years of Tango he has amassed a wealth of personal experience of the authentic social dance and brings a unique Porteño personality and irreverance to his teaching. He taught for over 16 years in Europe, his classes are fun, lively and interesting.
Whatever your personal preferences might be in the Tango, it is a fact that the real Tango only came from one place and one time from the streets of Buenos Aires, back in the days when El Pibe was just a kid. Every dancer needs to know and understand these roots to find their own tango.
