Aberdeen University Dance Society is one of the biggest societies on campus offering a wide range of dance classes in all levels. We have everything from streetdance to salsa, from bellydance to contemporary. More than 30 dance classes a week and best socials in town guaranteed!
'We are a small group based in Aberystwyth, Wales, and have been dancing for a while for about fifteen years. We organise classes, workshops, milongas, and practicas. The Belfast Argentine Society (BATS) was formed in 2007 as a "non for personal profit" organisation to promote Argentine Tango. \nWe teach the salon style suitable for social dancing worldwide. We do not teach step-based routines or choreography. We teach you how to innovatively lead / follow elegantly and creatively for the enjoyment of your partner.
\nWe run our own one-off events plus visit many communities as guest teachers to either run a one-off event, or a programme of classes that build week on week. We also run specialist Workshops which include specialist workshops in Ladies Leading and Men-only Leaders.
\nOur regular Guided Prácticas are a space just to practise with our expert supportive coaching on hand. Rarely available, yet Prácticas remain the most important transition between classes and social dancing.

\nDirector is Ali Hartland. Performer, dance teacher and choreographer, specialist in Tango Argentino for over twenty years, taught and performed in Buenos Aires, Chile, Uruguay, Spain, Germany, Portugal, France and the UK.
\nIn 1991 founded ‘El Cafetín Porteño’ in London which hosted many renowned Milongueros and tango artists including Miguel Zotto & Milena Plebs plus the Tango Por Dos Company; Carlos Gavito; Pupy Castello; Julio Balmaceda & Corina de la Rosa; Nito & Elba Garcia; Osvaldo Zotto & Lorena Ermocida.
\nIn 1994 moved to South America and studied Tango intensively for several years with late great maestro Ernesto ‘Pupy’ Castello. She performed in prestigious Milongas (such as ‘Almagro’) in Buenos Aires with him. On her return to Europe she hosted and assisted ‘Pupy’ as teacher and performer in London and Paris.
\nIn 1997 Ali danced in Alan Parker's film of 'Evita' which starred Madonna.
\nIn Buenos Aires Ali received the 'Maestro de Milongueros' award for her contribution to the diffusion of Tango in Europe.
\nDemonstrated with Osvaldo Zotto in classes and performed with him during his extended visit to London
\nIn 2001 she again studied intensively in Buenos Aires with maestros Nito & Elba Garcia.
\nAli continued working as a freelance teacher in the UK and Europe and also organised and ran dance holidays in Buenos Aires and Portugal.
\nNow based in the UK Ali Hartland is a freelance Tango artist and teacher and runs Viva Tango.
Westcourt Tango is based in East Kent and holds regular drop in classes in Whitstable. We encourage dancing socially and hold monthly Tango Tea Dances in Shepherdswell and occasional evening milongas.
