We’re delighted to host Giusy Santoro and Diego Javier Ledesma, a couple of highly skilled and experienced dancers, teachers, and performers of Argentine Tango and Argentine Folklore, for a special weekend of Tango.
Giusy lives and works in Buenos Aires as a professional dancer and teacher of Tango. Her experience ranges from traditional Tango de Salon to Tango Fantasía and Escenario. She has been a recent finalist in prestigious Tango competitions including the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Championship in 2017.
Diego was born in Santiago del Estero (Argentina) and grew up in a family of Musicians of Argentine Folklore. He joined a Folk Dance academy that toured throughout the interior of Santiago del Estero and participated in different National Contests and Festivals throughout the country. After finishing his studies in Music, Diego dedicated himself to dance. He gives workshops on Music, Argentine Folklore and Latin Dance and continues to study Tango in Buenos Aires where he currently lives.

8pm – 11.30pm Guided Practica with Giusy and Diego who will show you some different strategies for navigating a busy ronda which you can then practise during the course of the evening. There will be opportunities for social dancing to traditional Tango music. Giusy and Diego will also be on hand to offer guidance on any other aspects of your dance which you wish to receive advice about.

6.30 – 8pm Pre Milonga Workshop: ‘Dynamics of Vals’. The workshop will focus on developing fluency in the expression of musicality of the vals, using dynamic changes of energy and direction to accentuate the characteristics of the music. The workshop will also explore how to create flexibility within the embrace particularly in turns. This workshop is suitable for dancers at improver/intermediate and advanced level.
8pm – Midnight La Milonga de Esquina Porteña with special guest performance of Tango and Argentine Folklore by Giusy Santoro and Diego Javier ledesma.
At our milonga we strive to recreate the feel of a traditional Buenos Aires milonga. To this end, we play traditional Tango music organised in tandas TTVTTM with cortinas, and encourage observance of the etiquette of the ronda as well as the traditional codigos. Light refreshments are freely available. Feel free to bring your own wine – glasses are available. If you wish to book a table place, please contact us in advance.

Come and practise your Tango in a relaxed and friendly setting. All levels of dancer are welcome
Membership is free. Entry is £5 which includes complimentary light refreshments and nibbles and free entry into our raffle. There's usually a bottle of wine open somewhere, but feel free to bring your own.
Warm up from 8pm. This is an opportunity to stretch out and work on any technical or body conditioning exercises which have been recommended to you. If you're stuck for ideas we can recommend exercises to you - feel free to ask.
This is followed by opportunities to practise your dancing in a social setting from 8.30 -11.30 pm to traditional tango music arranged in tandas with cortinas. This is the perfect opportunity for you to practise and master new figures you have learnt, develop your ronda skills, and to offer and give feedback. There is also a side room where you can continue to work on technical exercises if you wish.
Details of the current and upcoming tanda are displayed so you can see the genre/orchestra/singer(where relevant) you are dancing to.
