Mastering Tango - The Ochos and Voleos Workshop

This workshop continues the series of 'Mastering tango' workshops. Each workshop can be taken independently.

Ochos and Voleos (Boleos) are some of the most classic movements within Argentine tango. They rely on the followers pivot, and need both a command of balance from the follower, as well as a precise lead from the leader to make them look stylish and elegant.

In this one and a half hour workshop we will look at how to capture a followers pivot point to lead them into front or back ochos along the line of dance, directly from a walk (i.e. without having to do any small positioning movements). We will then take a look at expanding the options in leading and following voleos, both back and front, and finally castiga (a rapid combination of both back and front Voleos).

It is for improvers to intermediate level, and is ideal for couples wishing to expand their technique and musicality for this beautiful, sophisticated and elegant dance.

It takes two to tango, so this workshop will be role balanced (equal leaders and followers) as far as possible. If you don't have a partner, please visit my Facebook Event Page and post a comment to see if anyone is looking for a partner too.

By the end of the workshop my aim is to have you dancing an Argentine Tango, using smooth entry and exits from Ochos, and to lead and follow Voleos and Castiga, to a traditional tango tune.
