Deciphering Parallel and Cross-System in Tango - 8-week Pre-Int Course

In this series, we’ll treat molinete not just as a sequence, but as a blueprint for improvisation.

Tango isn’t just steps - it’s a system of logic, timing, and connection. In this course, we go beyond the basics to explore parallel system vs. cross-system - and how knowing when and how to switch between them unlocks endless possibilities.

In parallel system, your partner’s left leg steps with your right. In cross-system, both partners can move their right or left legs at the same time - creating new patterns, new dynamics, and an entirely new layer of tango communication.

What you’ll learn:

• Parallel vs. cross-system - how they differ, and why it matters
• How to transition between systems with ease
• Walks, crosses, baldosas - all in cross-system
• Lead yourself, lead your partner - the art of intention
• Musicality: play with rhythm, pause, and double-time

No other dance uses systems, opposition, and circular movement the way tango does. Come explore the possibilities.
