Dansceni is presenting a special evening of live Argentine Tango Music on 21st October 2016
Many of you will be familiar with Jonathan’s band: Tango Sonoro. We are thrilled that for this event Tango Sonoro will be joined by Martin Alvarado from Argentina and Mikko Helenius from Finland.
Martin is considered to be the finest and most significant tango singer in the world at the moment – he has been described as the “21st Century Voice of Tango” and hailed as the best voice in Buenos Aires and by British world music broadcaster DJ Ritu and one of the world’s finest vocalists. In 2013 he won the Latin UK Award for Concert by International Artist of the Year and had his last album released by World Music Network’s Riverboat Records.
He has been touring almost continuously for 13 years in Europe, Asia and South America, performing in various major music venues and festivals, often selling out.
Mikko Helenius, musician and composer, virtuoso on the bandoneon and pianist is a well known figure on the tango music scene in Finland, playing with many of that country’s musical stars and touring internationally with them as well as joining Martin Alvarado several times on tours in the UK. He and Martin have recorded an album together which it is hoped will be released this year.
